At Open Arms 101, our mission is to uplift and support older adults—our #AdvanceFolk—by providing the resources and education they need to lead healthy, independent, and fulfilling lives. We focus on preventing and managing chronic conditions such as diabetes through health education, community workshops, and evidence-informed lifestyle guidance. Rather than providing medical care, we empower seniors with practical knowledge on nutrition, physical activity, disease prevention, and wellness strategies that they can use in their everyday lives.
In addition to educational support, we distribute free care packages filled with essential items such as toiletries, household goods, and comfort items to help ease the financial burden many of our clients face. These packages are a vital part of our approach, allowing us to meet immediate needs while building relationships that support long-term health goals.
Through our Empower Diabetes Prevention Program and integrated case management approach, we connect seniors to critical community resources and provide personalized support that encourages confidence, stability, and self-advocacy. Our goal is to foster a strong, informed, and connected community of older adults who can thrive—regardless of age, income, or health challenges.
The vision of Open Arms 101 is to enhance the quality of life of aging seniors in low-income communities.
